Getting more page views is often the most important goal for Web developers. But there is more to getting page views than posting your site on search engines and writing your meta tags. There are some other things you can do to improve your chances.

1. Content

Create and maintain actual content on your Web site. If you’re trying to sell something, it helps if you have articles and information about it. If you’re providing information, make sure that you have more than just lists of links for your customers to browse. Having high quality content that is updated regularly will keep your customers coming back.

2. Write and send a newsletter regularly

Newsletters remind your customers that your site is still there. Even if everyone who is subscribed doesn’t visit every time you send, you still keep your site in their mind. Also, since it’s email it’s easy for your readers to send it on to their friends, thus increasing your potential customer base.

3. Post to related newsgroups

Groups like Yahoo Groups, Google Groups, or even the About forums have many topics – there is sure to be one related to your Web site. Get involved with the forum – don’t just post ads, and your site will get more traffic. Be sure to include your URL in your signature.

4. Post to related mailing lists

Just like the newsgroups, you should find related lists and get involved on them.

5. Run a contest

Contests get people interested in your site. And if you have a good prize, you’ll get people excited to try to win. Be sure to include an official rules page, and you’ll want to find out if there are any rules in your state our contry regarding contests For example, in Canada, there must be a skill testing question to determine the winner.

6. Invite a guest speaker to your site

If there is someone in your field who is fairly prestigious, ask them if they might come and chat with your readers. If you have a chat room, you can hold the event there, otherwise, you can hold it in a public chat room. If they don’t want to chat, perhaps they would be willing to write a short note for your site. Remember it can’t hurt to ask.

7. Advertise online and off

Banner ads and text links are important, but offline advertising works too. Radio ads, ads in trade journals, and so on all help to generate interest in your site.

8. Give away free items

Purchase things like pens or stress balls with your Web site name and URL on them and give them away to your customers. Perhaps you could give them something if they fill out a marketing survey. Or you could create a screen saver related to your topic and give it away to first time visitors.

9. Copy Winners

If there are sites in your topic area that already get lots of hits, visit them to see what they do that is different from your site. If it’s at all possible, mimic what they do to add the same value on your site.

10. Watch your Page Views

Use your site tracking software to stay informed with what is working and what isn’t. It doesn’t do any good to purchase a new ad and then never determine if it actually worked.

Now, let’s try it, buddy..!!

1. Learn what a logo is and what it represents

Before you design one, you must understand what a logo is, what it represents and what it is supposed to do. A logo is not just a mark – it reflects a business’s commercial brand through the use of shape, fonts, colour, and / or images.

A logo is for inspiring trust, recognition and admiration for a company or product and it is our job as designers to create an identity that will do its job.

One must first know what a logo is before continuing.

2. Know the rules and principles of logo design

Now that you know what a logo is supposed to do, and what it should represent, you now must learn what makes a great logo; the basic rules and principles.

A logo must be describable

A logo must be memorable

A logo must be effective without colour

A logo must be scalable i.e. effective when just an inch in size

3. Learn off other’s successes and mistakes

Now you know what the rules are, you can distinguish the difference between a good and a bad logo. Knowing which logos have succeeded, and why, gives an insight into what makes a good logo.

For example, let’s look at the classic Nike Swoosh. This logo was created by Caroline Davidson in 1971 for only $35, yet it’s still a strong, memorable logo, effective without colour and easily scalable. It is simple, fluid and fast, and represents the wing in the famous statue of the Greek Goddess of victory, Nike (something perfect for a sporting apparel business). The Nike logo is just one of many great designs, think about other famous brands that you know about and check out their logos. What makes them successful?

4. Establish your own logo design process

Now that we know what a logo is, what the principles and rules of logo design are and what makes a successful logo, we’re now prepared to begin the design process. This is the hardest part of these tips, and is a whole topic in itself. Each person’s process is different and experience is usually the key factor when creating your own logo design process.

In short, a logo design process usually consists of:

The Design Brief

Research and Brainstorming

Sketching

Prototyping and Conceptualising

Send to Client for Review

Revise and Add Finishing Touches

Supply Files to Client and Provide Customer Service

5. Learn the software and complete the logo

After you have got your design process sorted out, it is usually a good time to begin mastering your software. We recommend Adobe Illustrator because the Adobe Creative Suite is a popular choice with professional designers.

Once you have arrived at your initial ideas and sketches from brainstorming, you can then move onto the computer to start digitizing your logo. After you have digitized the great concept(s), your client is ready to review your work, ask for possible revisions, and complete the design project. Thus, you have successfully created a professional logo.

Brand! It’s one of the biggest misconceptions about marketing: that to build a brand successfully from scratch a company needs to spend large sums of money on advertising in mainstream media.

You can build a brand cheaply, if you are clever.

Use viral and word-of-mouth marketing. It is the most powerful and cost-effective way to build a brand.

Target a small number of customers to begin with, and ask them to act as advocates for your product or service.

Identify opinion formers in your industry sector, such as analysts, and devote as much time as it takes to establish a relationship with them.

Spend money getting the fundamentals right, but do not cut corners: get the best design and the best consultants.

Do not follow big established brands down the media advertising path. It’s too expensive and you will be lost in clutter.

A great website is essential.

So you can see now, building brand is not the same as throwing money…
